Since 1966, BEOC has been a place of opportunity, helping New Yorkers gain the skills and education they need to improve their lives. Our mission is simple: to open doors to learning for every student and to prepare a capable workforce ready to take on today’s and tomorrow’s challenges.
We’re dedicated to our students’ success. Through hands‑on learning and real‑world experience, we make sure that students don’t just study—they gain the confidence and skills to put what they’ve learned into action.
Mission Statement
The State University of New York Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) is part of a network of comprehensive educational institutions serving adult learners. These institutions deliver education, training and student services to eligible New York state residents, offering them the opportunity and access to achieve their academic and career objectives.
The mission of BEOC is to create success by expanding life options for students with low or moderate income. BEOC provides a second chance and the opportunity for students to transform their lives.

For 60 years, BEOC has transformed lives through education and workforce training. In the last decade alone, we’ve served nearly 12,000 adults, helping thousands complete programs, earn credentials, enter college,and secure jobs.
