Certification Day Information
The Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center is honored to commemorate the 60th Certification Day Ceremony, celebrating the academic accomplishments and personal growth of the 2026 graduating class. This event will mark a significant milestone in the lives of our students, reflecting their resilience, determination, and pursuit of excellence.
The ceremony will be held on Monday, June 29 at 3:00 PM at the City Tech Theater, a venue befitting the occasion and the achievements of our graduates. It will be a moment to recognize their hard work and inspire continued success as they transition into new academic, professional, and personal endeavors.

Steps To Certification Day
The checklist below will assist you with preparing for the Certification Day Ceremony. Please click on eachstep to review all the information below. If you have questions or concerns please complete the Graduate Support Form.
Step 1: RSVP For Certification Day Ceremony
- Certification Day will be held on Monday, June 29th. Graduates must report to location at 2:00 PM sharp at City Tech Theater – 285 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY. To participate in graduation, you must complete the Certification Day RSVP Form by Friday, May 29.
- In the form, you will select how many tickets you need (no more than 2) and choose the size of your cap and gown.
- Extra tickets will not be distributed. Please ask your fellow class mates if you need more than 2 tickets.
Step 2: Register for Gradfest
- Gradfest will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 12:00 – 5:00 pm in the All Purpose Room on the first floor. The day is filled with interactive activities, and refreshments for certified graduates. You will also pick up your graduation tickets at this time.
- If you would like to attend, please complete the Gradfest RSVP form by Friday, May 29.
- If you cannot attend to pick up your cap, gown, and tickets, complete the Graduate Support Form.
Step 3: Book Your Headshots
Headshots will be offered in two sessions for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 graduates.
Fall 2025 Graduates
- Fall headshots are fully booked. There is no more availability.
Spring 2026 Graduates
- Spring students will have the opportunity to take headshots after NHA Exams on June 22 and 23 in the Multipurpose Room on the first floor. There will not be another opportunity to do so if you missed your appointment or are unable to attend.
- You can also record a shout out video to thank staff, family and friends who supported you through this journey.
- Spring 2026 Graduate Headshots are fully booked at this time.
In preparation for your headshot:
- Please be on time and prepared to take your photo.
- If you did not RSVP for headshots you will not be able to take a photo. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- Appointments are first come, first serve.
Step 4: Cap & Gown Pick Up
Cap and Gown Pick-Up Dates for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 graduates.
Wednesday, June 17
- Cap & Gown Pick-Up for All Programs (except Spring 2026 Module 3B) from 10:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Thursday, June 18
- Cap & Gown Pick-Up for All Programs (except Spring 2026 Module 3B) from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM
Wednesday, June 24
- Cap & Gown Pick-Up for Module 3B Students/ All Grads & Graduation Ticket Distribution from 12:00 – 5:30 PM
If you would like someone else is pick-up your cap and gown, you must email advisors@beoc.cuny.edu with the full name of the person authorized to pick it up on your behalf. The pick-up person must present a valid photo ID when picking up your graduation materials.
Step 5: Attend Gradfest & Pick up Tickets
Ticket Pick-Up
During Gradfest, you will also pick-up your graduation tickets. Please have your ID and banner number ready to show staff when checking in.
Transferring Graduation Tickets
The classmate transferring the ticket(s) must email Advisement at Advisors@beoc.cuny.edu. The email must include your full name and Banner ID and clearly state the name and Banner ID of the student receiving the ticket(s).
This information must be included in the body of the email in order for the transfer to be processed
Step 6: Attend the Certification Day Ceremony
- Certification Day will begin on time. Have your guests arrive no later than 3pm. No extra guests are allowed. You may only bring a guest for each ticket you have.
- All graduates will have their name called to walk across the stage. We kindly ask that you stay until the end of the ceremony after all names have been called.
- If you arrive after the ceremony begins, you will not be allowed inside the theatre. If you are not able to attend, the ceremony will be streamed over Zoom.
Step 7: Receive Certificate
- We are using a new platform called Parchments to order certificates. More details will be available on this platform soon.
After Certification Day

Invite your friends and family to visit Brooklyn EOC!
The Executive Director’s Office personally invites you to a tour and refreshments at Brooklyn EOC. This the perfect opportunity to view the campus and show your loved ones where you began your journey!
A group will be head back shortly after commencement ends. Brooklyn EOC is located at 111 Livingston Street, 1st floor (Boerum Place entrance), Brooklyn NY, 11201
Join the Alumni Committee
Apply to join Brooklyn EOC’s alumni committee to stay connected to the campus! You will serve as a role model for current students and represent BEOC’s mission in the community and beyond.

FAQ
When and where is the certification day ceremony?
The ceremony is on Monday, June 29th . Students must arrive by 2:00 PM and guests must arrive by 3:00pm. The location is City Tech Theatre – 285 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
When and where is Gradfest?

Will the ceremony be streamed?
Yes, you can watch the ceremony on Zoom
What if I am late to commencement?
All graduates should arrive no later than 2pm. Graduation will begin on time at 3:00 PM. Arriving late will result in you not being able to attend at all
What if I can’t attend Commencement?
As an alternative option to in-person attendance, we will live stream the ceremony.
What if I need more than two tickets?
Please ask you peers for extra tickets. If you have someone that is willing to transfer their tickets:
- The classmate transferring the ticket(s) must email Advisement at Advisors@beoc.cuny.edu.
- The email must include their full name and Banner ID and clearly state the name and Banner ID of the student receiving the ticket(s).

How long will the ceremony last?
The duration is about 3 to 3.5 hours
Can I walk if I did not pass my NHA exams?
Yes. You are able to walk across the stage as long as your course work and externship have been completed.
Is there a dress code for Certification Day ?
Yes. Please wear business casual attire.
What will ceremony day look like?
The ceremony program will be available shortly.

How do I book my headshot?
Headshots have concluded for both Fall and Spring graduates.
