Code of Conduct
Your Rights & Responsibilities
At BEOC, every member of our community has rights and responsibilities.
- Your personal information is protected by FERPA.
- We follow ADA and Equal Opportunity policies.
- Every student must sign the Student Agreement each year to confirm they understand our rules and regulations.
Attendance & Punctuality
Attendance is essential for your success.
- You must attend all scheduled classes and be on time.
- Missing more than 20% of a class may result in being dropped, unless your program requires perfect attendance.
- Arriving late or leaving early disrupts learning-please be present for the full class
Professional Behavior in Class
We expect a respectful and productive learning environment.
- Follow instructions from instructors, staff, and security.
- Participate actively and remain focused.
- Use class time for learning only-side conversations, sleeping, or distractions are not acceptable.
Dress Code
Dress in a way that supports a professional, respectful environment.
The following are not allowed:
- Tank tops, strapless or spaghetti-strap tops
- Short shorts, micro-skirts, sheer or see-through clothing
- Low-rise pants that expose undergarments
- Headgear (hats, caps, durags) unless worn for religious reasons
Technology & Devices
- Cell phones must be silenced and put away during class.
- Emergency calls can be made in designated areas only.
- Laptops or tablets may be used in classroom only with instructor permission.
- No eating or drinking in classrooms or computer labs
Maintaining Safety & Respect
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Smoking, fighting, threats, harassment, or bullying
- Vandalism, graffiti, or damaging property
- Bringing weapons, drugs, or alcohol on campus
- Cheating, forgery, selling or posting unauthorized materials
- Misuse of computers, internet, or technology
Reporting Misconduct
If you witness or experience misconduct:
- Report it in writing to the Director of Student Services within 24 hours.
- For disruptive behavior, instructors may ask the student to leave class.
The student may return only after meeting with an advisor or administrator.

Disciplinary Process & Appeals
If rules are broken, consequences may include:
1. Verbal or Written Warning
3. Suspension
2. Probation
4. Dismissal from BEOC
You may appeal a decision within 5 business days.
