School Closing Information

BEOC follows the emergency closing policy of its administering college, New York City College of Technology, CUNY. During inclement weather, or emergency closings, check announcements at www.sunybeoc.org or www.citytech.cuny.edu.

BEOC staff and faculty may also be notified by CUNY Alert for closings that apply throughout the University. BEOC students will receive notification of emergency closing by email or Brightspace posting.

Class Cancellations

Wednesday, May 27 ~ Eid al-Adha Holiday

BEOC classes are cancelled on Wednesday, May 27, in observance of the Eid al-Adha holiday. Students should check Brightspace and official BEOC email for program-specific updates. Additional questions and answers can be found below.

Are BEOC classes cancelled on Wednesday, May 27?

Yes. BEOC classes are cancelled on Wednesday, May 27 due to the Eid al-Adha holiday.

Does this apply to offsite externship students?

Offsite externship sites may still be open. Students may attend their externship if the site is open and expecting them.

Will students be penalized if they do not attend externship on May 27?

No. Students will not be penalized by BEOC if they do not attend due to the holiday, observance, childcare needs, or related concerns.

Will students have to make up the May 27 externship hours?

No. Since this is at the end of the semester and there is no practical make-up window, students will not be required to make up the May 27 hours if they do not attend due to the holiday or related concerns.

What should students do if they are not attending their externship site?

Students should notify their externship site and Career Services so their status is documented.

Who should students contact with questions?

Externship site, schedule, and attendance questions should go to Career Services. Academic completion questions should go to Academic Affairs. General support and reassurance can be handled by Advisement, with referrals to the appropriate area as needed.
